Hey, I’m Autumn Baez

I’m a garden lifestyle creator, Kane County Master Gardener intern, rose enthusiast, and the creative force behind Pretty Little Planter. I believe in joyful living, thoughtful design, and the transformative power of growing things—whether that’s roses, seasonal planters, or creative partnerships.

My Story

I’m a Kane County Master Gardener with a passion for thoughtful design and a deep love of roses. My garden is home to an extensive rose collection—50+ varieties of David Austin, own-root, and heirloom roses that I tend with care. But roses aren’t just plants to me; they’re a creative practice.

I’m fascinated by rose propagation and genetics. I spend time experimenting with seeds, testing crosses between different varieties, and watching what emerges. There’s something magical about planting a seed, not knowing exactly what you’ll get, and discovering a unique bloom that’s never existed before. Every season brings new seedlings, new possibilities, and new roses to add to my collection.

I’ve cultivated this garden across two climates: zone 6a in St. Charles, Illinois, where my rose beds and perennials thrive through cold winters, and in Puerto Rico, where I’m expanding my gardening knowledge in a tropical zone. This dual geography has taught me how to design plantings that work in real life—for different climates, seasons, and the reality of busy households.

What started as personal garden design for friends evolved into Pretty Little Planter—a brand built on the belief that everyone deserves a beautiful, thriving porch, patio, or garden bed.

What I Do

On television and media: You may have seen me on WGN Spotlight Chicago sharing seasonal garden tips, trending planting ideas, and live design demos. I love bringing garden inspiration directly to families and plant lovers.

For homeowners and families: I design custom planters and seasonal refreshes that bring color, structure, and joy to your outdoor spaces. Pet and kid-friendly options available.

For local businesses: I create curb appeal that makes a lasting impression—with seasonal install packages and optional monthly maintenance.

For creatives and brands: I style plant-forward shoots, collaborate on garden content, and partner with photographers, stylists, and brands who want authentic, joyful storytelling.

The Planter Shop

As my design practice has grown, I realized that the vessels matter just as much as the plants. I’ve tested, curated, and collected beautiful pots over the years—pieces that work across both my Illinois and Puerto Rico gardens, that scale well from small patios to sprawling porches, and that feel both modern and timeless.

This shop is my way of sharing the planters I actually use and love. Each one is chosen with intention: for durability, drainage, and design. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just starting out, these are the containers I’d put in my own garden beds.
